20 cm. [xiv], 28, [5]. pp. Illus. Black-stamped cream textured boards. Burndy bookplate. Very good+ See Garrison and Morton 2262 for the original edition of 1598, with the authorship of George Wateson. Written under the anonymity of initials, Singer proves this work to have been the production of George Whetstone and shows that it was seen in manuscript by Hakluyt and William Gilbert. It is the first work in the English language on tropical diseases and considers sunstroke, tabordilla (possibly typhus or yellow fever), prickly heat, dysentery, erysipelas and scurvy. At the time of printing this facsimile, only a single copy of the original was known (British Library).
