Winternitz, professor of nervous diseases in the Royal and Imperial University of Vienna, and founder of the first hydratic clinic. John Harvey Kellogg studied at Bellevue Hospital Medical College in New York (M.D., 1875) and in Europe traveling there five times from 1883 to 1907. Kellogg was medical director and founder of the Miami-Battle Creek Sanitarium, Miami Springs, Florida. He is known for having invented improved apparatus and instruments for surgery and medical purposes. Kellogg discovered the therapeutic value of electric light and invented an electric light bath cabinet, a therapeutic valve of the sinusoidal electric current.
