"Sib" Hoobler, born in Manhattan, attended Princeton and took his medical degree from Johns Hopkins, receiving degrees in medicine and biochemistry. He was a pioneering cardiologist who founded one of the country's first hypertension clinics, was Director of the Hypertension Unit at the University of Michigan from 1947 to 1974. He taught at the university's medical school from 1959 until 1976. He then became associated, for about ten years, with Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland as a clinical professor of medicine.
