Very good. Early printing of this splendid collection of engravings showing all forms of animals from all over the world. This is an excellent example of nineteenth century illustration of the order of biology and how it relates to man and their shared environments. S. G. Goodrich (1793-1860), born in Connecticut and largely self-educated, he became a bookseller and publisher in Hartford. After living some in Paris he returned to American and put together the first edition of this work issued in 1859. First Edition.
